And thus, learning new skills is about practising these skills and making mistakes – practising some more and making some more mistakes – and so on.

After all, we do not expect a toddler to suddenly get up and walk in a straight line from their cot to the door – so why would we ever impose the demand for perfectionism on ourselves?

Bullying behaviour has been on the rise everywhere, from our homes to schoolyards and workplaces. The factors that contribute to it are avoiding responsibility for the behaviour, blaming others for being a victim and not being in control plus not feeling equipped to respond to the life lesson presented.

In this presentation, Tanya Curtis gives equal importance to the part that the person targeted by the behaviour plays. When it comes to deflecting bullying behaviour, the tools are zero reaction, living responsibility, claiming oneself and bringing understanding. Life cannot be controlled, but we can all learn skills that support us to be settled in life.
